Stone Fruit Snack Cake

We’re celebrating the peak of stone fruit season with an easy and delicious one bowl snack cake! What exactly is a snack cake, you ask? We like to think of it as a reason to eat cake for breakfast, snack or dessert. Our version is made with whole grain flour, heart-healthy fats and is lighter on the added sugar. It can be eaten warm, with coffee or a glass of cold milk (or maybe a glass of wine?), topped with a dollop of plain yogurt or fresh whipped cream. If we haven’t convinced you yet, this snack cake features the beautiful peaches and plums from this week’s PIP haul and, to be honest, we really can’t think of a better way to celebrate summer fruit than with a sweet treat. This easy cake

Fresh Cherry Cocktails: Cherry Lemon Spritzer and Cherry Moscow Mule

We think it’s high time for a cocktail, or a mocktail! This week we’ve got the sweetest, juiciest fresh cherries that deserve some time in the limelight. If you received cherries in your PIP delivery you’ll likely be tempted to devour them by the handful, but we’re suggesting you save some to muddle and mash into a refreshing summer beverage. Both of these cocktails easily become mocktails – simply skip the alcohol, no replacements necessary. They will be just as delicious and refreshing without the booze. If you don’t have a cherry pitter you can remove the pits by either lightly smashing them with the side of a chef’s knife (this can get messy so grab an apron!) or by inserting a chopstick

Summer Squash Cake Fritters

It's hard to believe that we are essentially already halfway through summer! It’s important that we savor all of the amazing things that summer has left to offer. One of those things are the local and seasonal varieties of produce that are currently available. Right now, squash varieties such as zucchini and yellow squash as well as sweet corn are as delicious as they are abundant! We are all cooking more at home these days and perhaps you’re running low on ideas for new things to make that the whole family will eat! Well, it’s important that we get in our veggie servings for the day, but sometimes it can seem a little monotonous after a while to cook the same old things in the same way. Thi

Summer Vegetable Muffuletta

There is no better time than summer to showcase produce front and center! Whether we’re talking about fresh tomatoes, crisp sweet corn or local lettuce, it all makes our recipes that much more flavorful and delicious. This week we’re stuffing layers and layers of vegetables into a sandwich and couldn’t be more excited about it! The muffuletta sandwich hails from New Orleans and is traditionally stuffed with various Italian cold cuts and cheeses. In our version we’re swapping the meat for roasted vegetables using the perfectly imperfect peppers, squash and tomatoes you may have received in this week’s box, but keeping things classic with a briny layer of olive salad. Muffuletta can be eaten s

Japanese Tempura Corn Fritters

At the beginning of 2020 we took on a new endeavor to feature some of our favorite local restaurants once a month on our blog. We'd bring them a box of our Perfectly Imperfect Produce, watch them transform it into a delicious dish (Chopped style), and capture the recipe on our blog so our customers could recreate it at home using their own PIP delivery. We launched the idea with Chef Ricardo Sandoval at Fat Cats, then we visited the bad ass lady butchers, Penny & Melissa, at Saucisson, and in early March we wandered out to see our friends James & Mick at Aurelia in Chagrin Falls. They each cooked up some truly delectable meals and some luscious cocktails. Then, Coronavirus happened. And the
